Festivitas is a holiday software that makes your Mac seem like Christmas

If you're feeling festive but still working, a charming new macOS app called Festivitas can bring some holiday cheer to your computer. It decorates your Mac screen with twinkling lights hanging from the menu bar and illuminating your dock.

Created by software developer Simon B. Støvring, known for other popular iOS apps like Runestone and Scriptable, Festivitas offers a fun and customizable experience. Prior to its launch, Støvring teased various features on social media, showcasing the different options available.

Upon installation, you can customize aspects like cable thickness, light size, spacing, drop height, flashing patterns, speed, and color. There's also an option to switch to white lights instead of colored ones, and you can choose to disable the lights on the menu bar or dock if needed.

For instance, if the lights in the dock interfere with important notifications, you can turn them off while working. Similarly, if the menu bar lights are obstructing your open tabs in Chrome, you can adjust the drop height to move the lights above them.

The app, which requires macOS 14.6 or newer, must be enabled in the Mac's Accessibility settings. Once activated, the lights will automatically appear, and you can fine-tune their appearance. To turn them off, simply quit the app from the menu bar or dock.
